Distanze

Giovanni scrive per mestiere, ma ha anche un particolare amore e talento per la macchina fotografica. Le immagini che ha scattato, sul fronte di conflitti duri e sanguinosi, parlano da sole. Quelle raccolte in questo libro fotografico raccontano l'Iraq in fiamme, o l'esodo dei kosovari nel 1999, in maniera ancora più incisiva rispetto a tanti articoli. Come lo stesso Porzio ha scritto: "Se il mestiere di inviato di guerra ha un senso è nel valore della testimonianza". Una testimonianza, in questo caso attraverso immagini, che lascia il segno. Una testimonianza che dimostra come i giornalisti onesti, che vanno in prima linea, con la penna o la macchina fotografica, siano i veri occhi della guerra. (Fausto Biloslavo)
